Following its electric world premiere at the 51st Telluride Film Festival in late August, ZURAWSKI V TEXAS has packed theaters and received standing ovations at festivals and special impact events across the United States while sparking dialogue and encouraging conversation around access to abortion care in a post-Roe America.

Following a series of innovative impact release strategies in the US – including an impact screening tour across key battleground states and a free virtual watch party on the weekend before the election supported by Jennifer Aniston, Laura Dern, and Jessica Biel – the team has engaged Together Films to take the film to international audiences. Impact sales specialists Together will present the film to buyers at IDFA to encourage wide distribution in international markets as a key asset in understanding the human impact of these anti-abortion laws. Following the recent election news, the film is an urgent reminder of what is at stake both for the US and for any country that is considering a change in access to abortion care.

Critics have lauded the film in reviews. With The Hollywood Reporterdeclaring it, “a must-watch that reframes abortion as, above all else, a lifesaving healthcare right,” and IndieWire describes it as, “a harrowing documentary that makes the case for reproductive healthcare as a national necessity.”

As Texans themselves, directors Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault set out to learn what abortion bans mean in practice. “What we found was devastating, however, we also found hope in the twenty two plaintiffs who were unafraid to challenge these laws,” said Crow. “We hope this film moves audiences in the way that we were moved, that it challenges preconceived notions about abortion and that above all else, it makes the argument that abortion should be non-partisan and treated like all other healthcare.”

The film has won the inaugural Artemis Award for Impact at the Hamptons International Film Festival and the Audience Favorite at Mill Valley in their Active Cinema category for films that motivate and inspire audiences. In addition, the film has won the 2024 Impact Award, Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature & Audience Choice in Southern Feature Film at the Hot Springs Film Festival; Richard D. Propes Documentary Social Impact Award & Documentary Official Selection Audience Choice at the Heartland Film Festival; Special Jury Award for Documentary Feature at the Sante Fe International Film Festival;and the Audience Award for Documentary Feature & Feature Jury Award for New Jersey Films Competition at the Montclair Film Festival.

ZURAWSKI V TEXAS was produced by HiddenLight Productions, Story Force Entertainment, Out of Nowhere. It is also produced in association withExcellent Cadaver and Bumble Inc.

Sarah Mosses, Founder and CEO of Together Films said, “Zurawski v Texas is an essential watch in light of the US election results. The resonance of this story shows that any country is potentially under threat for loss of reproductive rights. We’re calling on international distributors to get behind this film and bring this crucial and timely conversation worldwide.”

Together Films will be presenting the film to buyers at DOC NYC & IDFA
