By Dan Marsh
The Clinton Foundation and the Arkansas Cinema Society will host a documentary film screening detailing the impact of restrictions on abortion access on Monday, April 21, with filmmakers Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault participating in a conversation afterward.
The screening will be held at Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film starts at 6:30 p.m.
“Zurawski v Texas,” which premiered at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, follows the legal battle of three women — Amanda Zurawski, Samantha Casiano, and Austin Dennard — who were denied abortions under Texas’s abortion bans. Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton executive produced the film, which won the inaugural Artemis Rising Foundation Award for Social Impact at the Hamptons International Film Festival. Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.
Crow is a documentary filmmaker and photojournalist based in Texas whose films have aired on HBO and Showtime. Her 2021 documentary, “At the Ready,” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and can be seen on Max.
Perrault is a Chicago-based documentary filmmaker and journalist. She co-produced the documentary shorts “An Abortion in Mississippi” and “Reproductive Rights Road Trip,” and was an impact producer of the Emmy-award winning documentary “Jackson,” which aired on Showtime.
